John L. Cornwell Jr.

John L. Cornwell Jr, age 80, of Galloway, OH passed away at Prestige Gardens in Marysville OH on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. John was born in Fairmont, WV on June 25, 1942to John Sr. and Genevive (Moran) Cornwell. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary (Osborne); his children, James Cornwell, Kristine Long, Jonna Schlosser and Doug Cornwell; his grandchildren; Justin Ramey, Sydney Ramey, Cameron Ramey, Anthony Long, Christian Mays, Austin Cornwell and Grayson Cornwell; his great grandchildren, Jolene Long and Warren Long and his siblings, Carol Tatterson and Norman Wine. John was preceded in death by his parents and his step-son Jimmy Ramey.

John served the nation in the U.S. Navy honorably discharged as the youngest sailor with an E5 rank.  John loved music and playing lead guitar, bass guitar and could quickly play any other instrument he put his hands on. It inspired him to begin the band, Johnny Lee and the Outcasts that would perform for 40+ years in the Columbus, OH and surrounding areas for thousands of people —several of whom became close, life-long friends.

He also was a very talented maintenance man, he could fix anything that needed fixed and in his later years, found work at Lowes as his last official job. Beyond this, John was also an ordained minister. He married many of his friends that started out as fans of his music and of the band and who are still married today, many decades later.

His intelligence and sense of humor mixed with a sharp-wit, created many unforgettable memories. John’s life-stories and hilarious jokes will be rehearsed repeatedly for generations to come.

The family will receive friends at a celebration of John’s life at the Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich St in Hilliard, OH on Friday, October 14, 2022, at 5:00 PM.
