John Daniel Davis, Sr. age 72 of Hilliard died peacefully at Kobacker House on Wednesday, November 16 after a courageous battle with cancer. Dan was born on September 5, 1939 to the late William “Bill” and Mary Ellen Davis. Along with his parents Dan was preceded in death by his two brothers Rolland and Richard. Dan was a member of the Local 189 Plumbers and Pipiefitters Union and retired after over 50 year of service. Dan enjoyed hunting and the outdoors but he loved the game of golf especially with his Florida pals. He is also noted for his quote “it is what it is.” Dan was member of St Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church, Hilltop Sportsman Club and Avery Lodge. Survived by his wife, Roseanne (DiGioia), son, John (Becky) of Malta, daughters, Cheryl (Sherry) Colegrove and Lori Davis of Columbus, sisters-in-law, Jackie Whipple, nephew, Derek Davis (NH), and Sue Davis (CA) brother-in-law, Harold (Joy) Fielder. 6 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, special niece “Blondie,” and many relatives and friends. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Chief Long and Norwich Twp Fire Dept, for their kindness and assistance during Dan’s illness. Special thanks to Peg Seelig, Bonnie Sawyer, and Joy Fielder who were caregivers along with Hospice and all the visitors and supporters for Dan. Family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Monday at St Brendan the Navigator Catholic Church, 4475 Dublin Rd., Hilliard, OH 43026. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of Flowers contributions can be made to Riverside HomeReach Hospice 180 E. Broad St. FL 32 Columbus, OH 43215 .
