John R. Funk, age 68, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016 at St. Ann's Hospital in Westerville, OH. Graduate of Worthington High School and Franklin University. Served as an E4 in the U.S. Army Medical Corp during the Vietnam War. He is a 32nd Degree Mason, Past Worshipful Master and Past Secretary of Avery Masonic Lodge #493. He was also a member of The Shriners, The Eastern Star, Kentucky Colonels, and Knights of Columbus. Recipient of Order of DeMolay's Cross of Honor, Legion of Honor, and Chevalier. Past Associate Guardian of Job's Daughters, Bethel #45. Preceded in death by parents, Amos and Dorothy Funk; brother, Phillip Funk. Survived by wife of 48 years, Virginia L. Funk; children, Bobby (Kelly), Tim, Sarah (Joe) Scott, and Angela (Ryan) Mack; 8 grandchildren; brother, Alvin Funk; numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends. Friends may call Thursday, April 28, 2016 from 5 until time of Masonic service, military honors, and funeral service at 6 p.m. at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St. in Hilliard. Pastor Joseph Yurko officiating. Private inurnment will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware, OH at a later date.
