John “Jack” W. Speaks (75) passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024. Jack was born in Columbus, OH on December 25, 1948 to John M. and Rowena (Miller) Speaks. He is preceded in death by his parents. Jack is survived by his beloved wife, Terry (Bailey) Speaks; his sons, Bret Speaks and Brad (Michelle) Speaks; his grandchildren, Alisha, Brynna, Ally and Travis; his great-grandchildren, Kennedy and Levi; his siblings, Pat Gowin and Ron Speaks, along with 2 nieces and 1 nephew and his beloved dogs (Jake and Kip).
Jack graduated from Linden McKinley High School, class of ’67. Afterwards, he served the nation in the United States Air Force. He worked at Worthington Industries for many years as an annealing operator and later, he worked for Hilliard City Schools. Jack is a member of Northwest Bible Church. As one of his highlights of serving God and the church, he participated twice in mission trips to Guatemala. He participated with the church in the purchase and driving a school bus to the Miami port assisting in the shipping of the bus to Guatemala for one of the mission church/schools. He enjoyed many sports and often cheered on The Ohio State Buckeyes. However, his greatest attention was his family and traveling regularly to his children’s and grandchildren’s’ events.
The family will receive friends at Tidd Funeral Home 5265 Norwich St. in Hilliard, OH on Monday, February 26. Visitation will be from 10-12 PM with a service at 12:00 PM. Jack will be laid to rest with military honors at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
