Karen Sue Brown

Karen Brown, age 63, of Hilliard, OH, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018. She was born of the late David A. and Elizabeth Brown on June 6, 1955. Karen was a loving mother, sister, aunt, companion and avid Buckeye fan. She attended Columbus State Community College, earning a degree in Childhood Education. Aside from a beautiful home, Karen made her career as a florist and Target associate. She is survived by her son Robert, and daughter Libby (fiancé, Cody Schlegel), both of whom were her pride and joy. Karen is also survived by her brother Mark (Janice Loebbaka) Brown, numerous loving friends and relatives, and her longtime companion Francis. Karen was a fantastic mother, sister, aunt and loving companion, and one of the sweetest women anyone has ever had the privilege of knowing. Karen had fought for her life—more than once—never giving up on herself or her family. She did so with a smile on her face, and questions about the health and daily lives of some of the people she loved the most. Even on some of her hardest days, her concern was not about herself. She never carried self-pity or bitterness, just constant strength and bravery. Her selflessness was genuinely incredible and she spread immeasurable joy everywhere she went. She had nothing but unconditional love for nearly everyone who entered her life—especially her son Robert, her daughter Libby and her longtime companion Francis. What Karen lacked in size she made up for tenfold with might. Karen was a sports lover, whether it was watching Robert excel on the softball field or basketball court, or yelling at the TV when the Buckeyes weren’t playing up to par. She enjoyed simple things like going on walks, reading books, and playing board games. But her favorite pastime was spending quality time with the ones she loved most. We were so truly blessed to have such a good-natured, loving woman in our lives. And while the world will be a lot less bright without her light, we will carry on in her name and make her proud every day with all the life lessons she taught us. Her family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm.
