Katherine L. Willman, 52, of Columbus Ohio passed away Monday October 25th, 2021 at her home after her battle with cancer. Kathy was born December 27th, 1968 in Orlando Florida to Georgia Dowell and Kenneth Shofter.
Kathy is survived by her children Michael, Megan, Lauren, and Matthew of Hilliard Ohio, her father Kenneth Shofter of Bremen Ohio, her brother Lee Shofter of Houston Texas, and brothers Mark Ballard and Mike Ballard of Colorado, her nephew and niece Josh and Mycki Young, cousins Daryl Allnut and Douglas Harness, and many more loving family and friends. She is also preceded in death by her sister Kimberly Shofter, and they’re mother Georgia Dowell.
Kathy was born in Orlando Florida and moved to Hilliard Ohio as a young child where she spent the rest of her life. She graduated from Hilliard high School in 1986. She loved her job as a Medicare specialist with Safe Harbor Retirement Group, mostly thanks to her boss Cory Sickles, who was never just a boss but a great friend. Kathy was a devoted fan to the Columbus Blue Jackets, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. One of her favorite things to do was to go the arena with friends or family to watch the game live but no matter what she had to see every game. Although she loved going out with her family and friends, more times than not you can find her at home playing card games and watching Christmas movies with her kids, no matter the time of year.
She raised all four of her children in Hilliard and loved taking part in all of their after-school activities. She spent many years going to all the cheer practices, games, and competitions for her daughters, and never missed one. She was a second mom to many people, including her kid’s friends, neighbors, and her friends children. Her home was always everyone else’s home. For over a decade her house was always a full one, kids coming in and out for a meal or just to hang out and she didn’t want it any other way. Her family and friends were everything to her, and she always went above and beyond for them. She willingly did anything asked from her and she was happy to do it.
She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, cousin and friend and touched the lives of all those around her in the most significant ways. She was cherished by many and her love will always live on. She will be forever missed.
Family will receive friends Saturday, October 30, 2021 from 2-5 pm at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where a memorial service will follow at 5 pm.
