Kathryn Bowman

Kathryn Marie Bowman, 96, passed away June 29, 2016 in Hilliard, OH. Born in Lakewood, OH to Marie and Albert Randt, Kathryn "Kay" was a graduate of Lakewood High School and attended Ohio University. In 1943, she married high school sweetheart, Brice. After his service in WWII, they lived briefly in New Jersey, and finally settled in Fairlawn, OH where they lived for 44 years. Kay was active in the Fairlawn-West United Church of Christ, where she served as president of Women's Fellowship and sang in the choir. She was also a volunteer for the Akron Children's Home Board. Her greatest love and dedication, though, was to her family. She looked forward to any occasion where family members could gather, whether for a summer picnic or holiday dinner. She will be remembered by all those who loved her as a generous, caring person, who always had a quick smile and a warm heart. Kay was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 67 years, Brice; sister, Jean; and brother, Robert. She is survived by her children, James (Jane) Bowman of Hilliard, OH and Carol (David) Van Gaasbeek of Canal Fulton, OH; grandchildren, Michael (Lauren) Bowman and Michelle (Chad) Ganson of TX, Brett (Yu-Fang) Van Gaasbeek of Hamilton, OH and Lisa Van Gaasbeek of Canal Fulton, OH; she also leaves 4 great granddaughters, Blythe and Brynn Bowman and Sophia and Aubrey Van Gaasbeek. Private Interment Service will be at Union Cemetery in Columbus, OH.
