Keith McDowell

Keith Joseph McDowell, age 74, of Hilliard, Ohio passed away April 2, 2016 at Riverside Methodist Hospital with family by his side. He was born February 25, 1942, to Joseph and Leah McDowell (deceased). He was the youngest of 6 children. Survived by sister Judy (Larry)Johnson. Keith married Diana Robertson (deceased) in 1960. They have 3 children, Shelly (Dave) Hudson, Brian (Bobbie Blake)McDowell and Lisa (Michael) Franks. Keith married Elly Spencer in 1979 joining their families with Ken M. Spencer, Jr. (deceased) and Martin J. Spencer. His 16 Grandchildren and 9 greatgrandchildren were a highlight of his life. His nieces, nephews, & cousins held a special place in his heart as well. His Fire Department family and friends were such a great part of his life. He never met a stranger and touched so many lives with his kindness and willingness to help others. Keith and Elly made a great team. They enjoyed camping with family, traveling, and activities at church. He loved golfing, shooting pool at the senior center, and helping with the Bread of Life Disciples food pantry at RELC. He was a 41 year member of the Norwich Township Fire Dept. serving through the ranks from volunteer to Chief. He retired April 2, 2004. He is a proud member of Norwich Township Fire Dept. Local # 1723. He graduated from Hilliards High School in 1960. In 2000 he was named to Hilliard High School Hall of Fame. In 2010 he was the Grand Marshall of the July 4^th parade in Hilliard. He was very active in the Bread of Life Disciples food pantry at Resurrection Lutheran Church.   Hilliard Senior Center, Avery Lodge # 493, Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association, International Association of Fire Fighters AFL-CIO-CLC. Family will receive friends Wednesday 1-3 pm & 6-8 pm at the Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3500 Main St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where funeral service will be held 10 am Thursday. Interment Glen Rest Memorial Estate. In lieu of flowers a donation to Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bread of Life Disciples Food Pantry, 3500 Main Street, Hilliard, Ohio 43026   or Firefighters Local # 1723, Scholarship Fund, 5181 Northwest Parkway, Hilliard, Ohio 43026 or charity of your choice. He will be truly missed by everyone who knew him.
