Larry Metcalf

November 18, 1939 — February 2, 2025

Larry Wayne Metcalf, 85, of Vermilion, Ohio, passed away on February 2, 2025. He was born on November 18, 1939 in Washington County, Ohio. Larry made Vermilion his home for the past 60 years, having moved from Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Patricia A. Metcalf; father, Raymond G. Metcalf; mother, Mona Metcalf; and brother, Gilbert S. Metcalf.

He is survived by his two children, Christine Skelskey (Thomas) of Hilliard, Ohio, and Daniel Metcalf of El Cajon, CA; three grandchildren, Nathan (Kendall) Skelskey, Nicholas Skelskey, and Andrew Metcalf, and his sister, Donna Roof-Suain (Dan).

Larry served in the United States Marine Corps from October 1, of 1958 to September 30, of 1964. He then went on to work for Ford Motor Company in Lorain, Ohio where he retired from in 1997 after over 30 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local 425, Lorain.

Larry was a devoted husband, father and a kind and gentle soul. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life - living by Lake Erie and working outside in his yard and garden. He cherished spending time with his family.  Larry also loved watching Westerns – being named after Larry "Buster" Crabbe and John Wayne.

In accordance with Larry’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. His family encourages everyone to celebrate his life in their own personal way, keeping his spirit close to their hearts. 

A private graveside celebration of Larry and Pat’s lives will be held at a later date. in Columbus, Ohio.
