Laura Reis

Laura E. Chastain Reis, age 71, passed away unexpectedly in Naples, Florida. A service will be held October 9^th at 2:00 pm at Tidd Funeral Home; 5265 Norwich St, Hilliard, Ohio. 

Laura was born on November 25, 1949, to Joel William Chastain, Jr., and Lida Paull Faber in Cleveland, Ohio.

Laura graduated from Upper Arlington High School in 1967 and Ohio State University in 1971.  She taught art education for many years at Davidson High School in Hilliard, Ohio.  She made a connection with many of her students and stayed in touch with them years later.  Laura was a wonderful teacher, winning various teaching awards, and being head of the art department at Davidson for 10 years.

Laura enjoyed cooking, and her holiday feasts were amazing.  There was always room for an extra guest.  She also loved music, and usually was the first out on the dance floor, and the last to leave.  Laura had a wonderful sense of humor, with a smile that could light up a room.

She is survived by her sons, Beau (Amy Johnson) Reis and Anthony (Brandi Abbott) Reis; her brother, Kip (Lyn Watkins) Chastain, and sister, Claudia (Jon Deal) Chastain; and her six beloved grandchildren.  Laura was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Joel William Chastain III.  Laura will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but will be remembered in the hearts and minds of those that loved her.
