Louise Edna (Mercer) Truitt, went to be with her Lord at home on Saturday, August 15, 2009, surrounded by her husband and her two daughters by her side. She was born March 12, 1930, Summerfield, Ohio, Madison County. She married her loving husband of 60 years on February 25, 1949. She was a member of the United Church of Mt. Sterling, Pickaway County Farm Bureau, Madison Mills Class of 1947. She was a Campfire Girls Leader in the 1950's and Assistant 4-H Club Leader. From 1950 through the mid 1970's, she was a member of The Madison-Plains district P.T.O., Booster Club and Music Boosters. She also served on the Madison County Commissioners Advisory Board. She is survived by her husband, Bill Truitt; daughters, Connie (Mike) Surgenor, Belinda (Terry) Vest of Mt. Sterling; granddaughter, Lorna (Barney) Ulrick of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; grandson, Aaron Jenks of Lancaster, Oh.; grandsons, Donovan (Jessica) Cooper of London, Devin Cooper of Mt. Sterling; eight great grandchildren, Jared, Lauren, and Evan Ulrick, Alic, Oren and Aaron Jr. Jenks, Dane Cooper and Jayden Cooper. She is also survived by one brother, James (Donna) Mercer of Washington C.H.; cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by father Forest Earl Mercer and her mother Edna Cecil Young-Mercer; four sisters and two brothers. The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at PORTER TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling. The funeral will be conducted by Dortha Ross, 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Porter Tidd Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling.
