Marcelene Slyh

Marcelene Violet Slyh, 94, of Canton, Ohio went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, May 17th. She lived her life humbly with an attitude of service and was sweet and kind to everyone she met. She deeply loved her husband Kenny of 68 years. She always had something positive to say and a smile and encouraging word for everyone. Even in her last days when asked how she was doing her answer was, "I'm doing great in the things that count. "She was born on November 12, 1920 in Franklin County to Garnett and Caroline Hunter and had four brothers, Kermit, wife Mary (deceased), Rodney, wife Betty (deceased) Virgil, wife Shirley (deceased), and Garnett Jr. wife Valda. She went to Midway high school and graduated in a class of 18 students. She then went on to graduate from Bliss Business College. She had several different jobs, but the occupation that she cherished most was being a mother. She adored her sons David and Kevin and loved watching them play and when other mothers were anxious for their children to get back to school after a holiday she was always sad to see them go. She lived the majority of her life in the Plain City/Hilliard area where she was a member of Big Darby Baptist Church and was an active part of her church family. It was at Big Darby that she learned about having a personal relationship with Jesus which shaped her life. Marcy is survived by her husband Kenneth, both of her sons David (Judy) Slyh and Kevin (Susan) Slyh, six grandchildren, Megan (Scott) Krause, Esther (Jason) Mach, Lauren (Jason) Zils, Nathan (Emily) Slyh, Aaron (Stephanie) Slyh, Anna (Donnie) Combs, nine great-grandchildren, Jared, Melody Violet, Michael, Kaitlyn, Camille, Rachel, Carter, Jacob and Campbell, with one more due in a couple of weeks She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews. The calling hours will be Thursday, May 21st, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Tidd Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich St. Hilliard, OH 43026. Funeral Services will be Friday, May 22nd , 1:00 p.m. at The Big Darby Baptist Church, 6921 Plain City Georgesville Rd, Plain City, OH.
