Margaret A. Ford

Margaret Ann Ford, (nee Maugan), age 93, died peacefully on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 in Northlake, IL.  A devoted and adoring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Margaret was a native of Columbus, Ohio, and a graduate of Mount Carmel School of Nursing.  She was a registered nurse for more than 50 years, including service as a Lieutenant in the Army Nursing Corps during World War II.  Margaret completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Northeastern Illinois University, Chicago, and worked as a school nurse at Arlington High School for more than 25 years.  In 1946, Margaret married Robert A. Ford, the love of her life who preceded her in death in 2014 after 68 years of marriage.  Together, they raised their family, traveled the world, and found their way to every dance floor.  Margaret dedicated her life and love to her children: Constance Ford Esler, William (Cathy), John (Kathy), Dr. Robin Ford Cardeneaux (Warren), and MaryAnne Ford Smith (Lovie).  She took great pride in her grandchildren who include Dr. Lisa Gaines (Shawn), Gwen Zimmer (Derek), the late Catherine Esler, Richard Esler, Julia Karlson (Nathan), Steven Ford (Jackie), Phillip Ford (Jennifer), Laura Mickler, Corie Ford, Mikal Smith (Kristen), Matthew Smith (Kathleen), and Miles Smith (Kara).  Margaret is also survived by many great-grandchildren, who adored her.  She was preceded in death by her parents Orin and Osellina Maugan, and sister Jackie Cade.  Margaret will always be remembered for how she made friends wherever she went, found the humor in life with her mischievous wit, and protected her family and friends with her gentle and fearless nature.  Visitation begins at 12:00p.m. on THURSDAY, DECEMBER 28, 2017 at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 (614)-876-1722 and be followed by the Funeral Service at 1:00p.m.  Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery, Galloway, Ohio.  Please visit www.tiddfuneralservice.com to send condolences to the Ford Family.
