Margaret Delaney Kay age 83 of Hilliard passed peacefully surrounded by her family at home on Friday April 19, 2013. Born August 29, 1929 in Columbus Ohio, she was raised in New Straitsville Ohio by her grandparents William and Margaret Call prior to graduating from Columbus North High School in 1947. She earned B.A degrees from The Ohio State University in Medical Technology and Education in 1951. She worked as a Medical Technologist and Biochemist for OSU Hospitals for 37 years ending her career as a supervisor of the Clinical Chemistry Labs in 1988. She was a part time team member for Riverside Methodist Hospital for over 20 years as a Medical Technologist. She was also registered in Graphoanalysis. Member of Trinity Episcopal Church for 62 years, Cum Christo, Daughters of Erin and the Shamrock Club. OSU Football season ticket holder since 1947 and a true attendee of the 1950 “Snow Bowl”. Member with her extended family, “The Girls” of the Hilliard Card Club for 5 decades.
Margie was a loving, generous, wise and strong single mother who offered her unconditional love and support to all people she met, while cultivating lifelong relationships with many. Her sense of humor and self-sacrifice is evidenced by her request to keep her obituary short by simply stating “She Lived, She Learned, She Loved, She Laughed, She Left”.
Preceded in death by her parents Paul and Ellen Martz. Survived by her children Kevin (Catherine) Kay, Donald (Kelly) Sladoje, Kerry (Tiffany) Kay. Grandchildren Ryan Kay, Jonathan (Ashley) Kay, Meghan Kay and Shannon Kay. Great Grandchild Elizabeth Kay.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday April 24, 2013 at The TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St. Hilliard, OH 43026. Funeral Services will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on Capitol Square at 10 a.m. on Thursday April 25, 2013, officiated by Richard A. Burnett, followed by internment in the Trinity Columbarium. In lieu of flowers, contributions made be made to Trinity Episcopal Church 125 East Broad St. Columbus, OH 43215.
