Margaret Lutz

Margaret Lanker Lutz, 91, passed away Monday, October 14, 2024, in hospice care at the Danbury Senior Living in Columbus, Ohio. Born November 9,1932 in McComb, Ohio, Margaret was the last of eight children born to parents Pearl Taylor and Alice Haley Lanker.

Margaret was educated in the McComb School System, graduating high school in 1950. She went on to study at The Ohio State University, earning her BSN in 1971. Years later she earned her master’s degree in psychiatric nursing. Margaret had a long and productive career doing what she loved — nursing and teaching others. She began her career as a practicing nurse at the former Upham Hall at OSU. After earning her MSN, Margaret taught psych nursing at the Mount Carmel College of Nursing until her retirement in 2009.

Being a life-long learner, Margaret loved world travel. She enjoyed many trips, including Ireland, Scotland, Hawaii, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Brazil, and the Galapagos Islands.

Until her health failed her, Margaret was an active member of Overbook Presbyterian Church in Clintonville, Ohio. In her over 70 years of membership, she served as an elder, deacon and Sunday school teacher. Margaret also volunteered countless hours to the Assistance League of Metro Columbus and enjoyed participating in her local button club.

Devoted to her children, Margaret was a loving mother to Barb Lutz Forshey (Alan), Sheila Lutz Jones (Brad) and James Charles Lutz II (Linda). She enjoyed seven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, with the twelfth due the week of what would have been her 92nd birthday. “Aunt Margie” is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews,

Services celebrating her life will be conducted at the Tidd Family Funeral Home, Hilliard, Ohio. Visitation will be held Friday, October 18, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024, visitation at 10:00 a.m. followed by an 11:00 a.m. funeral service.

 In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mount Carmel College of Nursing.
