Marie F. Szteiter

Marie F. Szteiter of Hilliard, OH, passed away on February 8, 2023 at Hospice of Central Ohio at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Marie was born on January 21st, 1950 in Toledo, OH to John and Florence (Nowak) Kolodziejczyk.

Marie grew up attending Catholic school in Toledo, Ohio and graduated in 1968 from Central Catholic High School. After moving to Castalia, OH in 1982, Marie was an active volunteer in her children's schools and in teaching catechism classes at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sandusky, OH. Marie also worked part-time at the Sandusky Public Library, which was a job she particularly enjoyed. Marie returned to Toledo in 1989 and worked for 4 years as a financial assistant at A.G. Edwards and 10 years as an office manager/listing secretary/bookkeeper at Welles Bowen Realtors. Marie relocated to Hilliard, OH in 2005 where she had a career as an account operations specialist with Wealthstone Advisors until retiring in 2019.

Marie deemed her greatest accomplishments as being a devoted and loving mom to her three children and Grammy to her three grandchildren, and a faithful servant of God. Marie was active in small groups and the church ministries of the Upper Arlington Lutheran Church Mill Run Campus, including the Congregation Care Team New Member Events Team, and Renewal Giving Team. Marie cherished her church community and she met many wonderful friends during her time there. Marie was an accomplished swing and ballroom dancer for many years and spent much of her free time attending local and national events. Dancing brought her great joy and a close community of friends. Marie will always be remembered for her gifts as a mother and Grammy, her strong faith and generosity, and her focus on living a healthy life.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Florence Kolodziejczyk, and sister and brother-in-law Carol and Ron Koperski, and former husband, Ralph Szteiter. Surviving are her children, Jeremy (Ilana) Szteiter of Boston, MA, Jason Szteiter of Temperance, MI, Rachel (Brian) Zufall of Hilliard, OH; grandchildren Norah Szteiter, Eden Zufall, and Reid Zufall, brother David Kolodziejczyk, and nieces Karen Domenico and Mary (Dana) Albritton. 

Visitation and services for Marie will be held on Saturday, February 25th. Family and friends may visit at Upper Arlington Lutheran Church - Mill Run Campus at 3500 Mill Run Drive, Hilliard, OH 43026, from 1:30-2:30pm, followed by a celebration of life service starting at 2:30pm in the sanctuary. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff at The James Cancer Hospital for all of their compassionate care and support as Marie battled an aggressive multiple myeloma diagnosis this year. They would also like to thank the enormous community of family and friends that supported Marie and her children throughout the year.
