Marion Schackne

Family and friends have lost a dear person today, Marion Chalif Schackne, Little Grandma, Little G. Sunrise October 18, 1923, sunset April 21, 2015. Born in Altoona, Pennsylvania. The Detwiler family moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1926, where Marion became a graduate of the 1942 class of Grandview Heights. She was an accomplished ballet dancer from the Detwiler Dance Company and a lifelong member of The First Community Church. Marion retired from Highlights for Children Magazine. Marion is preceded in death by her parents William Raymond Detwiler and Roselie Marie (Yoder) Detwiler, David Schackne Jr., and her son Logan Ward Schackne. She is survived by her daughter and caregiver Kelly Schackne, her granddaughters Trisha Lee (James) Hale, Tracy Marie (Robert Parks) Johnson, and her nieces and nephews Brenda Jo Wilhite, Leslie Ann (Richard) Malik , Erika Lynn Wilhite, Trent Allen (Lori) Wilhite and Lynn Allen Wilhite. Marion will be remembered at a private family service at a later date.
