Marjorie Beth Lightle, age 88, of Springfield, passed away Monday, November 22, 2010 at Springfield Community Mercy Hospital. During her active lifetime Marjorie was involved with American Legion Auxiliary, PTO, Camp Fire Girls, United Methodist Church and Civil Air Patrol. After retirement from the US Postal Service she traveled by airplane, ship, train, hot air balloon and car; to Europe, Caribbean, Canada and all 50 states. Marjorie volunteered for the Columbus Metro Parks and worked several summers in National Parks. She enjoyed walks in the wilderness, photographing wild flowers and mountain scenery. Preceded in death by parents, Palmer and Julia Phillips; brothers, David and Edward Phillips; and sister, Ellen Bowshier. Survived by son, Allard Lee (Anne) Lightle, grandson, Stephen Lightle, his daughters, Colleen Lightle and Rebecca (Dennis) Hughes and their son, Caleb; granddaughter, Leigh Anne (David) Vallone and their children, Nicholas, Samantha, and Jenna Vallone.; daughter, Anita (Steven) Tabbutt, grandson, Kraig Tabbutt, and granddaughter Karman (Greg) Dheel and their daughters, Shayna and Sydnie Dheel; sister Marian (Carl) Wickline; sisters-in-law, Donna Phillips and Joan Phillips; aunt, Velma Phillips; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of good friends. Family will receive friends Sunday, 11/28 from 2-5 p.m. at THE PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 331 W. Main St., Mt. Sterling, OH 43143, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, 11/29. Interment Pleasant Cemetery.
