Mark David DerBing

November 13, 1955 — April 6, 2025

Mark David DerBing, age 69, passed away April 6, surrounded by love. He was born November 13, 1955, in Philadelphia, and was preceded in death by his parents, David Bing and Madeline Mark Bing.

He is survived by sister Merry Bing Pruitt (John), niece Elisa Pruitt, and a boatload of cousins and friends, most especially Kristin Hoffman.

Mark graduated from Hilliard High School back in the days when there was only one high school in Hilliard, and earned a degree from the Ohio State University in graphic communication.

Although he was known primarily for his work as a guitarist, Mark was a Renaissance man who had skill and experience as an artist, composer, flipper of peace-symbol pancakes, crossword master, writer, gardener, fisherman, sewist, road trip taker, and (as a kid) Little League pitcher/switch hitter. He loved pets of any kind, and even gifted a ceramic bridge to someone else's betta that lacked suitable architecture in its aquarium tank. At least one cat was consulted daily about its culinary preference. Mark's sly, dry sense of humor was legendary, but he was serious about animals.

Friends and relatives are invited to a meal 12:30 Sunday May 4 at Reformation Lutheran Church, 1355 S.

Hamilton Rd. Columbus OH 43227. interment will be later in the year, at West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd PA. Funeral arrangements are by Tidd Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Columbus Humane, Cat Welfare, or Reformation Lutheran Church.
