Marlene E. Cress (92) passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024. Marlene was born in Clark County, OH on May 25, 1931 to Robert and Tabitha (Lannon) Eisnaugle. She was preceded in death by her parents. Marlene is survived by her husband, Marvin Cress; her son, Douglas (Megin) Cress; and her granddaughter, Brooklyn Cress.
Marlene retired after a 39 year career with Ohio Bell. She was an active member at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Dublin, OH. Serving particularly with the International Friends Ministry. She was also an active member of Telephone Pioneers. Marlene surrounded herself with people all of the time. She enjoyed cooking for friends and family. She was known for her corn pudding casserole, carrot jello, tapioca pudding and peanut brittle at family gatherings. Marlene always wanted people to feel welcomed. She never met a stranger. She loved to stay up late and talk with friends and family. She loved family gatherings with the Peters family. New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day celebrations were some of her favorites. She also loved spending time with her high school best friend Maria and her husband Oris Dement. Marlene had a very large collection of brooches and was rarely seen without one. One of her favorite things to do was to decorate her miniature houses and have tea parties with her granddaughter Brooklyn. She and Marvin loved vacations with their lifelong friends, Paul and Marge Peters and Rich and Pat Fein. She could also be found on Friday nights, playing Rook with their friends, Ed and Emma Miller for the last 30 years.
The family will receive friends at St. John’s Lutheran Church 6135 Rings Rd. in Dublin, OH on Saturday, March 23. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM with a memorial service at 2:00 PM. In honor and memory of Marlene the family would love for people to wear their favorite brooch or pin to the service. The family would like to thank Vitas and Carriage Court of Hilliard for the care they provided to Marlene.
