Cray, Mary Anne Costa
November 19, 1956 – September 15, 2018
Mary Anne Costa Cray, age 61, passed away on September 15, 2018, after a valiant 10-year battle with ALS. Born on November 19, 1956, she was the fifth of 11 children to bless the marriage of Louis (who predeceased her in 2016) and Marian Pagliasotti Costa. A graduate of Youngstown Chaney High School, Mary Anne earned her B.S. in Nursing from Kent State University, and her M.S.N from The Ohio State University some years later. She met and married the love of her life, Chris, on May 22, 1993, and together they raised their two wonderful sons, Samuel and Dmitri, all of whom survive to treasure her memory. Also surviving are her beloved mother, Marian; siblings Carol (Lynn Thumser), Raymond Costa, Catherine (Michael) Zaino, Thomas (Barbara) Costa, Rosemary (Charles) Rotonda, Stephen (Roxanne) Costa, Anthony Costa, Christine (Hannes) Rosskopf, John (Cody Sunderland) Costa, Stephanie Costa, and James (Shahnaz) Costa; and many treasured aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Above all, Mary Anne was a devoted wife and mother who will always be remembered for her love of board games, garage sale treasures, and the occasional trip to the casino. She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice, dubbed “our little songbird” by her mother, and music became a passion she carried all of her life, bringing joy to many as a cantor at St. Brigid of Kildare, as a member of the choir and contemporary mass group, and as a soloist for many special occasions. For reasons now obscured in the annals of family history, her father gave Mary Anne her most treasured nickname, Skeeter. The family offers eternal thanks to the family, friends, and precious caregivers too numerous to mention for their countless acts of kindness, support, prayer, and caring as Mary Anne bravely and gracefully bore her cross. The family will receive friends on Friday, September 21, 2018, from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at St. Brigid of Kildare Catholic Church, 7179 Avery Road, Dublin, OH 43017. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m., Rev. Msgr. Joseph Hendricks, Celebrant and dear family friend. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to St. Brigid of Kildare Music Ministries. Funeral arrangements provided by Tidd Family Funeral Homes. Welcome home, Skeeter, Dad has been waiting for you to sing to him.
