Mary Teresine Von Driska, age 91, of New Albany, Ohio, formerly a long-time resident of the Hilliard area, entered the presence of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 4, 2022. Mary resided at Smith’s Mill Health Center. Born in Columbus, Ohio to the late John and Anna Jakob, she was a graduate of St Leo Elementary, and St. Mary’s High School in German Village. She attended Mount Carmel nursing school and met the love of her life, Frank Von Driska, while he was convalescing at the hospital. They later married on June 30, 1951. Together they raised their family in their home on Elliott Road. Mary was a long-time member of her high school classmate club. She was also was an active participant of her Canasta group. Mary and Frank were parishioners of St. Cecilia Parish for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents John and Anna Jakob, her beloved husband Frank Von Driska, grandsons Jared Von Driska and Nick Dowler, her brother John Jakob and his wife Kay, her brother Robert Jakob and his wife Judy, brothers-in-law Gene Griesemer and Thomas Von Driska, and sisters-in-law Ann Willis and Marian Barbour. Mary is survived by her loving family. Her children: Mike (Tyna) Von Driska, Kathy (Buddy) Smith, Joe (Lana) Von Driska, Julie (Bill Taylor) Freeland, Chris (Pam) Von Driska; her sister Ruth Griesemer, brothers Paul (Teresa) Jakob and Tom (Val) Jakob; her grandchildren: Jamie (Joe) Wells, Jeremy Belford, Chelsea (Jordan) Miller, Katie (Donny) Shoemaker, Jane Von Driska, Chris (Karly Jean) Von Driska, Jr., Zach (Christine) Mollette and Will (Stephanie) Mollette; great-grandchildren: Scarlett Martinsek, Paisley Wells, Archer Wells, Evan Miller, Lorynn Miller, Brody Shoemaker, Barrett Shoemaker, Daryan Belford, Riley Mollette and Hayden Mollette, Christopher Von Driska III, Wyatt Von Driska, River Von Driska, Lauren and Tabytha Von Driska; many nieces and nephews including Jeannie & Dale King, Mary Barbour Caylor, Tom Von Driska and Tommy Von Driska.
Family will receive friends from 11:30 AM on Friday, December 16, 2022 at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 (614)-876-1722 where her prayer service will be celebrated at 11:30 with the visitation immediately afterward. The Reverend Fr. Denis Kigozi will celebrate the prayer service. The family burial will be held later when Mary is laid to rest next to her husband Frank at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
