Matthew S. Johnson

JOHNSON, Matthew Steven, age 31, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on December 19, 2019. He was born on April 4, 1988 to William David and Laurel Joan Johnson. He graduated from Hilliard Davidson High School in 2006 and attended Ohio University. Matthew also attended Franklin University and worked in computer tech support. Matthew played varsity football and wrestled at Hilliard Davidson High School and was a cheerleader at Ohio University, becoming captain of the squad, as well as competing on the OU rugby team.  He was an accomplished bicyclist, having completed the Tour of the Scioto River Valley and the Great Ohio Bicycling Adventure multiple times.  Matt enjoyed playing bass guitar and languages, speaking conversational German.  His favorite pastimes were matching wits with Jeopardy contestants and playing online games with friends.  Matthew leaves behind his parents; grandfather William F. Koepfer of Toledo, OH and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Matthew’s name to a charity of the donor's choice. Visitation will be held on Saturday December 28, 2019 from 1PM to 3PM with a funeral service starting at 3PM at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio 43026. A private family inurnment will take place at Wesley Chapel Cemetery at a later date.
