Maxine Hylton, age 75 of Dublin, Ohio, passed away Friday, June 16th at home surrounded by her loving family, after a brave 2 ½ year battle with adenocarcinoma of unknown primary. She was diagnosed on April 22, 2015, and given six months to live. She went to The James Cancer Hospital, and as a result of the wonderful care she received with Dr. Sameek Roychowdhury and his kind staff (especially the nurses at the infusion center) she survived for two years and two months and was able to live life to the fullest. Maxine was born December 29, 1941 in Omar, West Virginia, and was a 1960 graduate of Logan High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Hylton, on February 2, 1963. After living in Massachusetts and Washington, D.C. while Don served in the Air Force, they relocated to Columbus in 1966. Maxine worked 20 years for Ohio Bell/AT &T as an operator, retiring in 1998. She was preceded in death by her parents, Celso and Georgia Contreras. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Donald; son Joseph (fiancée Vera Marsico); daughter Jodi (husband Scott) Sollars; beloved granddaughters Emily and Lauren Sollars GO BUCKS!; sister Mary (husband Lawrence) Mendez of Omar, West Virginia; brothers Jack (wife Darlene) Contreras of Chicago, Illinois and Bennie Contreras of Monticello, Indiana. Maxine attended Westgate Baptist Church, Lincoln Baptist Church, Northwest Bible Church and Journey Church.
Friends may call at Tidd Funeral Home; 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, Ohio on Monday evening, June 19th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.. Funeral service will be at Cypress Wesleyan Church, 377 Alton Darby Road, Galloway, Ohio on Tuesday, June 20th, at 12:00 p.m.. Pastor Dennis George will be officiating. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church. Per her wishes, Maxine will be cremated.
