Michael A Sicilian

October 5, 1969 — June 10, 2016

Michael A. "Jr." Sicilian, age 46, of Marysville, OH, went home to be with the Lord early Friday, June 10, 2016, surrounded by family and friends at the Kobacker House-Hospice in Columbus, OH, after a courageously fought six year battle with cancer. Born October 5, 1969 in Shelby, OH to Ray “Lefty” Sicilian, Jr. and Patty (Cook) Sicilian. He grew up in Hilliard, OH and graduated from Hilliard High School Class of 1988, where he was on the baseball and football teams. Mike proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1991 to 1994 where he achieved the rank of SPC4. In 2000, he married Karin Wright and embraced fatherhood with the birth of their son, Giano, in 2003; then welcomed their beautiful daughter, Gabriella, in 2008. He spent ten years working in the mortgage industry and then began driving a semi-truck for GFS and then for Marathon Oil until 2010, when he was diagnosed with cancer. He truly enjoyed golfing and playing softball. He also enjoyed coaching his son’s sports teams from baseball to lacrosse, helping out wherever he was needed. He also loved the special father/daughter events with Gabriella. As his health allowed, he volunteered at the Chalmers P. Wylie VA, assisting other veterans.

A special note of appreciation from Mike “Thanks to all family and friends and the many people I never met that prayed for me and my family. Thanks to the many doctors. And to Pastor Ken and Dave and Mark (with Cypress Wesleyan)” The Sicilian family would also like to note a special appreciation to Mike’s friends that surrounded him with love in their presence as he was nearing the end of his time with us here on earth: Donnie, Jim, Tony, Todd, Larry, Keif, and Mike. A heartfelt thank you to all of our family and friends for their presence, love, generosity, support and prayers through these difficult years. Our deepest appreciation to the Kobacker House-Hospice and their wonderful, caring staff for making certain Mike was comfortable.

Mike is survived by his wife of 16 years, Karin (Wright) Sicilian; children, Giano and Gabriella Sicilian; parents, Lefty and Patty Sicilian; brother, Ray (Linda) Sicilian III; mother-in-law Marie Wright and father-in-law Jack Wright; sisters-in-law, Summer (Jeff) Sowards and Tanna (Dale) McKee; numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Friends may call Wednesday, June 15, 2016 from 10 a.m. until time of memorial service at 12 noon at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St. in Hilliard, OH. Procession to immediately follow to Alton Cemetery where committal and military honors will be performed. Memorial luncheon to follow at COAH club; directions will be provided.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mike’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to a trust savings fund that will be established for the children with PNC Bank (if you would like to donate to this, please contact Summer Sowards at summer.sowards@gmail.com).
