Nina Strickler

November 5, 1937 — July 11, 2024

Nina Anne Strickler passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 11, 2024 in her 86th year. She was born on November 5, 1937 in Ephrata, PA, her hometown. She married Alfred B. Strickler, Jr. on June 18th, 1960. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary before Al passed away on January 9, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents, John R. Petticoffer and Nina Grosh Petticoffer of Ephrata. She is survived by her sister, Jean Petticoffer Swann of Ephrata; daughter, Nina Suzanne (Drew) Goddin of Lake Mary, FL; granddaughter, Nina Caroline and grandson, Scott; son, Charles Alfred (Jojo) Strickler of Hilliard, OH; and grandsons, Nikolas and Kristofer. Nina graduated from Millersville University with a degree in elementary education and taught at the Gladwyne School near Philadelphia. Al and Nina would eventually move back to the Ephrata area, where she served as a substitute teacher. She also was a volunteer at Lancaster General Hospital for many years. Both she and Al would continue their volunteer service at the Dublin Methodist Hospital, after moving to Ohio in 2008. The couple enjoyed traveling around the world in their retirement years. Nina liked to attend symphony, read, do jigsaw puzzles, write in calligraphy and sew counted cross stich. One of her biggest pleasures was taking care of her many flowers and plants in her yard. She especially loved to spend time with her grandchildren and her many dogs over the years, including Schwartzie, Gretchen, Molly and Judy. Nina was an avid Bible reader and most recently a member of The Worthington Presbyterian Church. She had recently moved from her home in Dublin to the Wesley Woods senior community in New Albany. A memorial celebration will be held at the family plot of the Moravian Cemetery in Lititz, PA on August 2. Condolences may be made at Tiddfuneralservice.com. In lieu of flowers, the family would love for you to remember this grand lady by doing one simple thing: never pass up a chance to hug your loved ones and friends – and let them know how much they mean to you.
