Monica Lynn Canterbury

Monica Lynn Canterbury, age 63, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away at Transitions Life Care in Raleigh, North Carolina on May 21, 2023. Monica was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 9, 1959 and graduated from Hilliard High School in 1977. She then started her career in banking at Franklin Bank, which changed to Society Bank and then Key Bank. Monica ended her working life in Ohio with Huntington Bank and then moved to North Carolina to enjoy more sunny weather. At the time of her passing, she was employed by RBC (Royal Bank of Canada). Monica’s hobbies were many. She loved hiking, walking on beaches collecting seashells, cooking and needlepoint. She enjoyed the mountain views of North Carolina and the calmness of sitting by a lake. Monica was also a big OSU football fan, watching the games on Saturday. Throughout her life, Monica loved all animals, especially her 3 American Labradors: Murphy, Casey and Ali, who have all passed over the rainbow bridge. She will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Monica is preceded in death by her father James F. Canterbury. She is survived by her mother Elizabeth J. Canterbury, sister Marcia Canterbury, brothers Jim (Lora Beth) Canterbury and Matthew (Karen) Canterbury, nephew Matthew Canterbury, cousin Mike Dewey and special friend Milton Bentley. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Madison County, 2020 Plain City-Georgesville Rd. NE, West Jefferson, OH 43162 in Monica’s memory. A private memorial service will be held at Resurrection Cemetery, 9571 High St., Lewis Center, OH 43035.
