Nathan C. “Nate” Emrich Jr., age 84, of London, passed away May 10, 2012.
Member of First United Presbyterian Church of London, Navy Veteran WWII, and Graduate of Hilliards High School. Attended The Ohio State University; where he was a pitcher for the 1947 baseball team. He went on to play for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Boston Braves Farm teams. Nate was the first Manager at The Newark Bearings Inc. and retired with 35 years of service as owner of Emrich Insurance Agency. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed bowling and all sports but was most proud of his children. Preceded in death by parents Nathan C. and Leona L. Emrich, Sr., brothers Robert E. Emrich (Army Ranger WWII) and Joseph Emrich, sisters Flora Van Voorhis and Gennie Fox, step-sons William and Lonnie English and his children’s mother Barbara Emrich. Survived by loving wife Jean of 32 years, children Tom Emrich and Cynthia Renee (Bill Short) Emrich, stepchildren Linda (Danny) Corbley and David English, sister Virginia Shanks, 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Nate leaves behind many friends, neighbors and golf buddies. Family will receive friends Monday 10:30am- 12:00 pm at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where funeral service will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Gordon Johnson officiating. Burial with Military honors at Forest Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Loving Care Hospice.
