Ned W. Woodruff, age 89, lifelong resident of Hilliard, passed away Wednesday April 16, 2008 at The Kobacker House. Retired as Chief of The Adult Probation Dept. for the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas in 1981. He was a veteran of WWII, serving as a Glider Pilot Instructor in the 805th Army Air Force Base Unit. Served 12 years on the Hilliard Board of Education. Long time member of Hilliard United Methodist Church, life member of N.W. Franklin Co. Historical Society and the Senior Center Happiness Club. Graduate of Hilliards High School, Class of 1936, OSU Graduate, Class of 1941 where he was a member of the OSU Marching Band that performed the 1st Script OHIO. He was inducted into the Hilliard High School Alumni Hall of Fame. Preceded in death by parents, Frank and Edith Woodruff, sisters, Viola Woodruff , Bernice Sachs, and Mildred Rohr, grandson, Andrew Woodruff. Survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Ruth, 3 sons, Dennis (Cindy) of Kennesaw, GA, Timothy (Pamela) of Hilliard, and Jerry (Susan) of Galloway, daughter, Suzanne (Steve) Barger of Cincinnati, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends. Friends may call Sunday from 2-4 & & 7-9pm at THE TIDD FUNERAL HOME 5265 Norwich St. Hilliard. Funeral services will be held 10am Monday at The Hilliard United Methodist Church 5445 Scioto Darby Rd. Hilliard, OH 43026 with Pastor David Ziegel officiating. Private family interment at a later date.
