Norma Schaffer

Norma A. Schaffer, age 92, of Hilliard, Ohio, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Charles and Eleanora Moedinger, Norma was the last surviving of their five children. Norma and her husband John moved to Hilliard in 1966 and were faithful members of Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church ever since. Norma was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Pittsburgh. She was an avid organist and pianist and was quite active in the Nationwider's Retirees luncheon group. She was a long-time member of the church choir and sang for many years in the Clintonville Mother Singers. Norma and John loved to travel and they spent many weeks in Europe. Norma was a dedicated, devoted and loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She was always inquiring about their many activities. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, John L. Schaffer and her loving daughter Bonnie Lou Ritchie. Norma is survived by her granddaughter Bethany (Brian) Golden of Powell, Ohio, grandson Dirk (Meredith) Ritchie of Towson, Maryland, great-grandsons Noah and Evan Golden, son-in-law Sherwin (Diane) Ritchie of Dublin, Ohio, her numerous nieces and nephews, and her many friends. Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00p.m. FRIDAY at the Tidd Family Funeral Home, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 (614)-876-1722. Funeral Service will he held 10:00a.m. SATURDAY, April 16, 2016 at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3500 Main Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 and family will receive friends before the service at church beginning at 9:00a.m. Reverend Libby Buuck will officiate the service. Burial will follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial contributions to Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, in Norma's memory.
