Orella Lyon

Orella Phillips Lyon, age 83, resident of Plain City, OH, went home to be with the Lord on October 13, 2014. Orella was born in Martha, KY on May 7, 1931. Retired from Southwestern City Schools and a member of Bible Community Church. Preceded in death by husband Gayle, sister Lorretta Sparks and granddaughter Christy Lyon. Orella is survived by sons Rick (Wendy) and Greg (Diana), grandsons Todd (Crystal), Tyler (Megan) and Seth (Jennifer), and great grandchildren Magdalene, Addison, Luke and Gideon and many great friends. Orella was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend but more importantly she was devoted to serving the Lord. She worked in the Sunday school program and promoted Southern Gospel Music. Orella loved to sing songs like “Old Ship of Zion” and she helped to get a youth camp established where many souls came to know Christ over the years. Even in her last days, her desire was to see one more soul come to know Christ. Family will receive friends 4-8 pm Thursday at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026. Funeral service will be held 11 am Friday at Bible Community Church, 3880 Clime Rd., Columbus, OH with Pastor Tyler Lyon and Rev. Mike Blanton officiating. Interment Forest Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bible Community Church Building Fund.
