Peggy Ann Lear Bender, on June 16, 2010, Peggy was escorted to her place in Heaven after a four year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born January 19, 1952 to Robert and Pat Lear in Columbus, OH. Peggy graduated from West High School (1969) and Bowling Green State University (1972) with an Associate’s Degree in Business and attended Ohio State University studying Computer Science. She was employed by the law firm George, Greek, King; then moved as an executive secretary to another lawyer, Mr. Shanklin. Peggy then accepted the position of Administrative Assistant to the United States District Court Magistrate; where she served until 2007. She was noted for her winning smile, kindness to all that she met and was called “truly irreplaceable.” Peggy was united in holy matrimony to Donald Dennis Bender in 1984. During this union two children were born, Megan and Matthew. Dennis states: “Peggy was my LITTLE WOMAN. We shared a life time of being best friends and loving her was the greatest joy of all. We were blessed with two wonderful children and they are truly our gifts from God. Peggy knew the Lord and rejoiced in her coming home.” Megan states: “You have been the most supportive and caring inspiration in my life. You will be missed tremendously, but I know you will be with me, walking beside me, helping me through life, and guiding me with every step I take. I love you so much Mom.” Matthew states: “She was not just an amazing mother, but also an incredible friend and teacher. Her love and compassion for her family will never be forgotten. Peggy’s spirit will forever float high in the glorious heavens.” Peggy will be remembered for her sweet spirit, her cheery laugh, quick smile, her unselfish desire to please others, compassion for animals and her servant’s heart. She delighted in providing whatever was needed in any situation. She will be remembered for her loving care and relentless attention she gave her children. They were a joy of her life. Peggy will also be remembered for her hospitality and generosity for every special family occasion. Her memory will be cherished by husband Dennis, children Megan and Matthew, maternal parents Robert and Pat Lear, paternal parents Lee and Don Bender, sister and brother-in-law Jacque and Tom Baughman, with cousins Eric and Emily, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Denise and Tim McCluney, with cousins Marissa and Chris, cousin, Ed Lear, aunt, Mary Ellen, uncle, Bill, and 4 cousins, as well as work associates and friends. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition, 2501 Oak Lawn Ave., Suite 435, Dallas, TX 75219. Visiting hours are Monday, June 21 from 1-3 and 5-7 pm. Service is Tuesday, June 22 11 am both at TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026. Interment Union Cemetery.
