Perry “Coach” Reall, age 84, of Hilliard, Wednesday, May 04, 2011. Air force Veteran. Graduated from Otterbein College in 1951, where he played Football, Basketball, and Baseball. Later that same year he began his 37 year career as a teacher and coach at Hilliard High School. While at Hilliard, he was head baseball coach from 1951-1957, where he coached Mid Six Champions in 1954 and 1957; head basketball coach from 1951-1970, where he coached the Mid Six Champions of 1956-1957 and 1957-1958 and also Mid Eight Champions of 1960-1961 and 1965-1966. In addition, he was head Golf Coach from 1951-1987; Mid Six Champions 1958, Mid Eight Champions 1961 and Central District Champions 1961. His 37-year span as golf coach is believed to be one of the longest of any coach in one sport in Ohio history. His success as a coach later led to his induction into the District 10 Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1993. However, not only was he a coach but a wonderful teacher, person, parent and husband who was well liked by all who knew him. Preceded in death by his loving wife Mary Reall. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Gary (Stephanie) Reall of Tulsa, OK, Scott (Heather) Reall of Nashville, TN, Chris (Kelly) Reall of Hilliard; grandchildren, Ashley (Jeremy) Robertson, Danielle, Tony (Katherine) Reall, Nikki and Scottie; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends and his pet and pal Jackie. Family will receive friends 6-8 pm Wednesday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME WITH CREMATORY, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026. In honoring Perry’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer society.
