Rachael Ellen Morehart, age 93, of Mt. Sterling, Ohio passed February 18, 2010 at Sisters Assisted Living in London, Ohio where she had resided since Sept. 2007. Rachael was born Jan. 26, 1917 in Madison County. She was the last surviving child of Orla and Golda Toops. She married Donald E. Morehart July 2, 1937 who preceded her in death on June 6, 2003.
Rachael was an active member of her community. She was 4-H adviser for many years and an honored member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Lily Chapel where she was a Sunday school teacher and led many missions projects. She was also active in the Ruth Naomi Circle. She was well known as an expert seamstress, quilter, cook and baker.
She is survived by her five children; Barbara (Joe) Cathel of Orient, OH., Judy (Bruce) Fletcher of Colfax, N.C., Kathy Streitenberger of Greensboro, N.C., Paul (Meg) Morehart of Mt. Sterling, OH., and Mary (Jim) Dietz of London, OH.; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. She was a devout Christian, a loving mother and friend. We have many memories to remind us of her and we are at peace knowing she has returned to her eternal home, but nothing can fill the void her absence will create.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling from 4 – 7 p.m. A Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 in Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling. Rev. Edwin Martin will officiate the service.
