Ralph A. Litzinger, age 83, died peacefully on Monday, May 18, 2015. Born in Patton, PA, Ralph attended St. Vincent’s College ‘53. He worked for Ashland Chemical for 30 years in Columbus, OH before retiring to Hilton Head, SC with his beloved wife, Susie. Known for his warm spirit, friendliness, and sense of humor, Ralph was also deeply religious and philosophical, who enjoyed conversing about the meaning of life and death. He was a lover of all sports, an avid tennis player, a huge fan of Duke basketball and the Pittsburgh Steelers. A standout running back during college, he was inducted into the St. Vincent Athletic Hall of Fame in September, 2012. In the final years of his life, he never once complained of his suffering. Never judgmental, never cynical, always hopeful, he taught humility and grace through example. Ralph is preceded in death by his wife Sue and his son Tim. He is survived by his sons Ralph (Cynthia) and Paul (Kathy), grandchildren Zachary, Ava, Elizabeth and Allyson, his brother Jack (Carol) and many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind his extended family in Pittsburgh, PA whom he cherished so dearly and the friendships he built in Columbus, OH and Sun City, SC. A mass will be held on June 13 at 1:30 pm at St Bonaventure Catholic Church – 2001 Mt. Royal Blvd, Glenshaw, PA 15116. A celebration of life will immediately follow at the Parkview VFW – 726 Midway Dr., Pittsburgh, PA 15215.
