Ralph Ross, 79, of Mt. Sterling went home to be with the Lord, on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. He was born October 8, 1937 in Morgan County, Ohio.
Ralph was a retired welder of Showa Corporation. He was a member of the Mt. Sterling First Church of the Nazarene, served as a Sunday School Superintendent, member of Church Board, Church greeter also known as the "candy man". He loved hunting, fishing and trying that game called golf. Ralph loved his family and friends and most of all his grandchildren. He was a role model, to many like a father. He never knew a stranger. To know him was to love him.
He was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Emily (Lefever) Ross; sister June Kemper and brother Lee Ross.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 1/2 years, Dortha; son Ralph E. Ross; daughter Melinda A. (Jeff) Hogan; 4 grandchildren Emilie, Elisabeth, Evan, and Elise; brother-in-law Harold "Grip" Kemper, sister-in-law Evelyn Ross; numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral service will be held Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Mt. Sterling First Church of the Nazarene at 1:00 pm.
Rev. Joe Proudfoot, Rev. Ron Reynolds, and Rev. Fred Hall officiating with the interment following in Pleasant Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Thursday at the church from 3:00 - 8:00 pm. The family is being served by the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME, Mt. Sterling.
