Ralph D. Smith, 82 of Mt. Sterling, died Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Mt. Carmel West, Columbus. He was born April 6, 1927 in Franklin County, Ohio.
Mr. Smith was retired from Battelle Institute as a Metallurgist of 45 years. He also was a farmer and Navy veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Isabelle Smith; 2 sisters Virginia and Joann.
He is survived by wife Mary (Joseph) Smith; sons Randy (Jill) Smith of London, Craig (Karen) Smith of Thornville, Rowdy (Kelly) Joseph of Marysville, John (Renee’) Joseph of Grove City; daughter, Sheila (Robert) Klein of Bexley; 8 grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 17, 2009 at the PORTER-TIDD FUNERAL HOME 331 W. Main Street, Mt. Sterling, OH. 43143. Rev. Dortha Ross officiating. Family will receive friends one hour prior to time of service.
In lieu of flowers family suggest memorial contributions may be given to Pickaway County Meals on Wheels, P.O.Box 565 Circleville, Ohio 43113.
