Rebecca M. “Becky” (Schwartz)Finnegan, age 61, passed away on January 18th, 2022. She was born November, 1960 in Steubenville, Ohio. Rebecca graduated from Steubenville High School in 1979 and then attended Capital University where she earned her B.S. in Nursing in 1983. She earned her Masters in Nursing from The Ohio State University in 1989, and her M.B.A from Capital University in 1999. Rebecca had 12 years of hospital experience as an RN including Med-Surg Clinical Specialist, Case Manager, Nursing QA, and Surgical ICU experiences. She began her career working at Ohio Health Grant Medical Center as a Clinical Nurse Specialist from 1989-1996 before going to Management and Network Services, Inc. (MNS) where she would spend nearly 23 years 1996-2018 as Chief Clinical Officer then Vice President of Care Coordination. Rebecca spent her final years working at OhioHealth Riverside Methodist Hospital as a Case Manager, working in the ICU.
Rebecca was a woman of faith, living her life through God and the church. For over 20 years Rebecca’s Church home was Bexley United Methodist, where she was a member on countless boards and participated in singles group, disciple, adult bible study, choir, and handbells. It was not only a place of worship, but where she would be wed, raise her kids when they were younger, and develop her church family. For the past 10 years, Rebecca’s church home has been Scioto Ridge United Methodist where she had participated in disciple, bell choir, life group, bible studies and other small classes. Rebecca loved music and was a flutist all through middle school, high school, and continued to play with her church choir at Bexley. Rebecca spent her young adult life traveling through Circuit Rider, where she made lifelong memories and friendships.
Rebecca married her beloved husband Phillip in 1996. Rebecca had her first child Loren in 1998 then later adopted their second daughter Alexis in 2004. Rebecca’s family became her life. She has loved watching the girls grow up and supporting them in all their activities.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents Jean A. Schwartz and E. Dale Schwartz. Rebecca is survived by her husband of 25 years, Phillip Finnegan; children, Loren and Alexis Finnegan; sister, Deborah Schwartz; brother, Samuel Schwartz; mother-in-law, Sally Finnegan; father-in-law, Eugene Finnegan; brother-in-law, Mark Finnegan; sisters-in-law, Holly Finnegan and Roberta Schwartz; niece Lindsey Finnegan; nephews Tyler Finnegan and Robert Schwartz.
Family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8p.m. THURSDAY at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 (614)-876-1722. Funeral Service will be held 10:00a.m. FRIDAY, JANUARY 28, 2022 at SCIOTO RIDGE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 4343 Dublin Road, Hilliard, OH 43026. Burial will follow at Galloway Cemetery, Galloway, Ohio.
