Rella Mae “Pooney” Sparks, age 83, formerly of Hilliard and Plain City, Ohio, met her Savior peacefully with her family by her side. Born in Salyersville, Kentucky to the late Elzie and Lula Poe, she was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Ruben Sparks who passed in 2019 and her son Clifford Sparks who passed in 1980. Rella was also preceded in death by her siblings Isom Poe, Elaree Cole, Mary Caldwell and Ted Poe, her brothers-in-law Ellis Smith and Riley Caldwell, her sisters-in-law Connie Poe and Catherine Poe, and her brother-in-law Elmer Cole.
She is survived by her twin sister Nella Fay Smith, her brother Woody Poe, her five children Roger (Wendy) Sparks, Betty Sparks, Missy (Mike) Love, Michelle (Shawn) Hay and Jason (Tina) Sparks, her 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, brothers-in-law Glenn (Joyce) Sparks and Buddy Sparks, and many loving nieces and nephews and friends.
Rella was employed by Medex, Inc., in Hilliard, Ohio for 29 years before she retired. She was a faithful servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and attended Hayden Enterprise Baptist Church in Hilliard, for many years.
Family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 FRIDAY at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 (614)-876-1722 where her Funeral Service will be held 10:00a.m. SATURDAY, JANUARY 6, 2024 with Pastor Steve Hicks, officiating. Burial will follow the service and Rella Mae will be laid to rest beside her husband and son at Big Darby Cemetery, Plain City, Ohio.
