Richard Harold Jordan, age 90, passed away November 20, 2015. Born April 24th, 1925 in Loudonville, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean and parents Violet and Harold Jordan of Loudonville, Ohio. Richard and Jean had been married 61 years. After graduation from Loudonville High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served aboard the USS Nashville in the Southwest Pacific during WWII. After the Navy, he attended Ashland College where he met Jean Hess, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hess of Ashland and they were married in 1949. He is survived by two daughters and two sons. Daughters Pamela Alting, Hilliard Ohio, Sharon Beers, Galloway, Ohio, and sons Richard Howard Jordan of Columbus, Ohio and David Jordan of Dublin, California. After teaching three years at the Hayesville High School in Hayesville, Ohio, his teaching career was interrupted by a recall into the Navy during the Korean War. He attended the Naval War College at Newport, R.I. where he received the commission as an Ensign. He later transferred to the Miramar Naval Air Station, San Diego, California where he served as a Commissary, Clothing and Small Stores Officer. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a Master's Degree in School Administration and spent one year in a Doctoral Program at Ohio University through the U.S. Department of Education. He Served as Superintendent of Schools as follows: Auglaize-Brown Local Schools, Oakwood, Ohio, Delta Local Schools, Delta, Ohio, Loudonville-Perrysville Exempted Village Schools, Loudonville, Ohio, Valleyview Local Schools, Germantown, Ohio, and East Liverpool City Schools, East Liverpool, Ohio. After retiring from the East Liverpool City Schools, he served as a consultant for the Division of School Finance, State Dept. of Education. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, Columbus, Ohio, American Association of School Administrators, Ohio Education Association, and he served on the Board of Birthright of Columbus and was president for 4 years. Family will receive friends Monday November 23, 2015 from 4-6 pm at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME 5265 Norwich St. Hilliard, OH 43026. Private family interment will be at Ashland Dickey Cemetery. Ashland, OH.
