Richard A. Kensey, Sr., died peacefully and passed on to his eternal reward on September 18, 2013 in Hilliard, OH. Richard was born in Lucerne Mines, PA on March 21, 1927 to German immigrants William and Freda (Stevens) Kensey. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Robert and Edward Kensey. Richard grew up in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, and as a young man enlisted in the Merchant Marines. After serving in World War II, he attended Olivet High School of Kankakee, IL and Olivet Nazarene College where he met his bride of 62 years, Dorothy Bluhm. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy, brother William (LaRue) Kensey of Clymer, PA, son Richard (Karla) Kensey of Columbus and daughter Cyndi (Joe) Coniglio of Hilliard, grandsons Jason Coniglio (fiancée Katy Borkowski) and Jarrod (Beth) Coniglio, granddaughter Becca (John) Dunlap, great-granddaughter Emma Coniglio and step- great- grandson Dylan Wilson, many nieces, nephews and friends. Richard attended the Church of the Nazarene throughout his life. He worked for Western Southern Life Insurance and Purolator. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed golf and fishing, and played softball until the age of fifty-five. A great gardener, woodsman, and cook, who loved being outdoors. The family is grateful to the caregivers at Altercare of Hilliard and Dublin Methodist Hospital for their compassion and care. Family will receive friends 11-1 pm Monday at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where funeral service will follow at 1 pm with Pastor Malcolm Schoener officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Nazarene Building fund, 3669 Leap Rd., Hilliard, OH 43026. Interment Sunset Cemetery.
