Richard A. Kensey II, was born on January 12, 1953, in Kankakee, Illinois, while his parents were attending Olivet Nazarene University.  He went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 5, 2022.  Preceded in death by father, Richard Kensey, Sr., (2013,) and mother, Dorothy J. Bluhm, (2019).  Rich is survived by loving wife of nearly 47 years, Karla Kensey, daughter, Rebecca Dunlap (John) and grandchildren “Zeke” and Zelda, sister and brother- in-law, Cyndi and Joe Coniglio, mother-in-law, JoAnn Spurlock, sister in laws, Mary Gearheart and Tricia Hess, nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, friends, classmates and co-workers.

Rich graduated from Hilliard High School in 1971 and attended Mount Vernon Nazarene College.  He worked for Allis-Chalmers, Massey-Ferguson, Willamette Industries, Lawson Products, MBM, Hedman Commercial Waste, and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.  His favorite job was driving the Ronald McDonald Mobile Clinic. Rich enjoyed fishing, hunting, softball, and golf.  He organized bowling, softball, basketball and volleyball church leagues in many areas of Central Ohio.

An enthusiastic Christian, Rich attended the Church of the Nazarene most of his life.  Over the years, he served in various roles including: district advisory board, district delegate, church board member and head trustee, teen group leader, SS teacher, choir member, coach, bus driver, and coffee bar organizer.  One who liked to start ministries, he did not fail to do the routine like cut grass, clean or paint. Rich and Karla founded Journey Christian Cancer Support at Quest in West Liberty, Ohio.  Rich served on two mission trips to Jamaica and Haiti, was a Promise Keeper and an Emmaus Pilgrim.

Although Rich was born in Illinois, his family returned to Ohio when he was two months old.  He was an avid Buckeye football and basketball fan who took a little ribbing for not being a true Buckeye.

A fun-loving person, Rich will be remembered for his humor, practical jokes, and laughter.  Positivity was his greatest strength. He loved the Lord and was an encouragement to several.  Because he showed his immense love for family and friends every day, Rich will be deeply missed.

Family will receive friends Thursday, March 10, 2022 from 6-8 PM at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026; where funeral service will be held Friday, March 11, 2022 at 10:30 AM with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. Officiating Pastor Kevin Meyers and Pastor Kirk Scott. Cremation and burial will be at the convenience of the family.  Please consider, in lieu of flowers, a donation to Victoria’s Children (Kenya) founded by personal friend, Faith Obonyo.  Envelopes are provided.
