Robert L. Dye passed away peacefully in Columbus, Ohio on February 7, 2019. He was born in Centerville, Ohio on July 28, 1950 to the late Robert and Betty Dye of Columbus, Ohio. Bob, in his formative years, was an avid baseball fan and played on various teams including his High School Varsity team in Centerville, Ohio. He attended Ashland University, formally Ashland College, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He held many positions within the fraternity such as Secretary and Lieutenant Commander (VP). He was in Who’s Who, a member of the National Honor Society in History (Phi Alpha Theta) and president of the Student Union Board of Governors. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in history and went on to teach social studies at Buckeye Junior High in Columbus. He obtained his Master’s degree in education 1984 at The Ohio State University. As a young boy he dreamed of becoming a pet store owner and he made his dream a reality as the owner/ operator of Jungle Jakes Pet Store. He loved baseball, animals, tropical fish, spending time fishing and American history. He is survived by his daughter Alicia Lynn Dye McDonald, son in law Nathaniel McDonald, 4 granddaughters; Eliza, Ella, Hannah, and Clara of Hilliard; his son Jonathon Robert Dye of Westerville; Brother Kenneth A Dye, Yvonne Kovac both of Dublin; Sister Karen J Temple and many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death; father, Robert K. Dye; his mother, Betty J. Dye both of Columbus; sister in law Deidre Dye. Viewing will be held on Saturday February 16, 2019 at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, Ohio 43026 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and services will begin at 4:00pm.
