After a long illness, Robert F. (Bob) Hoover passed away at the age of 89, on Friday, December 6, 2013. He was born in Amlin, Ohio on May 9, 1924 and was preceded in death by infant daughter, Peggy Ann, his parents, Frank and Marie Hoover, and brother, James Hoover.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mae, sons; Scott (Martha) Hoover and Daniel (Elaine) Hoover and daughters; Marsha (David) Kesler and Joan Hoover, sister; Emogene Skipton and sister-in-law; Janet Hoover. Surviving grandchildren include Keith and Christopher Hoover, Robert and Amy Kesler, and great-grandchildren Alec Daniels, Hilary Glozer, Joshua Hoover, and Thomas and Kyra Kesler.
Bob graduated from Hilliard High School in 1942 and during World War II he served three years as a quartermaster, on the destroyer the USS Chevalier in the Pacific and European African sectors. He received the bronze star victory medal.
In the following years, he owned and operated a service station in Hilliard, Ohio and worked for a car dealership in Columbus, Ohio. He and his wife retired to Florida in 1984. A private memorial service will be held at The Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, in North Ft. Myers, on December 11, 2013.
