Robert Oravec

Robert G. Oravec, “B.O”, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2016. He was born June 22, 1927 in Youngstown, Ohio and lived in Columbus, OH for a year and a half. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years Nell, his parents Elizabeth and Joe, four brothers; Steve, Joe, Eddie and Cyril and sister Peggy. He leaves behind three daughters, Joan Carney (Jeff Barnes) of Columbus, Kathy (Rick) Pedley of Santa Clara, CA, and Joyce (Michael) Jones of Mentor, OH. He is blessed with five grandchildren, Kelly (Dan) Lehmann of Columbus, Bobby Carney (Alyssa Hess) of Tampa, FL, Kristen and Scott Pedley of Santa Clara, CA and Christina Jones of Mentor, OH. He is also blessed with 2 great grandsons George and Charlie Lehmann, to whom he was “Super G.” He also leaves his best friend Gino Mordocco of Poland, OH. “B.O” was a great man, great father, and great friend. He had the kindest heart and was loved by everyone who knew him. He was an Army Veteran WWII and enjoyed a career as a Youngstown Firefighter at South Ave. and Brownlee Woods Stations, retiring in 1987. His happiest times were spent with his family telling good stories. He enjoyed trips to Reno and Las Vegas with Nell and trips to local casinos with whoever wanted to go! He was lucky there and if he didn’t hit on a lottery number he’d say he “missed it by one.” He was a loyal Notre Dame fan his entire life and loved football. Until we see you again, enjoy the “Wheel of Fortune” in heaven. God now has our hero. A special thanks to the staff at The Grand and Ohio Health Hospice for their wonderful care. Family will receive friends 5-8 pm Friday at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME WITH CREMATORY, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard, OH 43026. Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 am Saturday at St. Margaret of Cortona, 1600 N Hague Ave, Columbus, OH 43204 with Father Jeff Rimelspach Celebrant.
