Robert Palmer, age 67, of Hilliard, passed away Sunday, January 21, 2007. Born July 23, 1939 in Detroit, MI. Appointed to The US Military Academy at West Point; graduated in 1963; Masters Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute in 1970. Service in Vietnam, Germany, and USA. Awarded Legion of Merit, Silver Star, Bronze Star, Air Medal, and Army Commendation Medal for Valor, 4 Meritorious Service Medals, and Navy Commendation Medal. Chemistry Professor at West Point from 1970-1973, and The US Naval Academy at Annapolis from 1977-1980. Sr. Advisor to Ohio National Guard 1989-1992. Retired October 1992. Administrative Manager of The Ohio State University Chemistry Department from November 1992 to December 2004. Special Assistant to the Chairman, Department of Chemistry at OSU from March 2005 to present. Survived by mother, Jean Cecil Palmer, loving wife of 44 years Diane Brown Palmer, daughters Melissa L. Palmer, Tiffany A. Moore, and Robin P. Fulton, sister Teresa P. Salter, and 8 grandchildren. Inurnment will be held at 11am Thursday April 5, 2007 at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Kobacker House, 3724 Olentangy River Rd., Suite G, Columbus, OH 43214.
