Colonel Robert G. Radcliffe, 80, of Hilliard, went to the home of the Lord on October 11, 2009. He was born May 7, 1929, in Kenton, Ohio, to Herbert and Frances Radcliffe, who proceed him in death. On April 15, 1952, he married Mary Helen Howard of Kenton, Ohio. They were married for 57 years.

Colonel Radcliffe served in the Ohio National Guard for 41 years from 1948 to 1989. He was on Active Duty from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. Col. Radcliffe was a self employed businessman for many years in Kenton and Lima. He then worked as the full time State Training Officer for the Ohio Army National Guard until his retirement in 1989.

Colonel Radcliffe was a member of the Ohio National Guard Officers Association, the 37th Division Veterans Association and served as Past President of the 148th Infantry Regiment Veterans Association. He volunteered his knowledge and labor freely to Habitat for Humanity and Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church. He was a longtime multi-gallon blood donor and a life member of Masonic Lodge. Col. Radcliffe was a true gentleman and respected by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Radcliffe of Hilliard, a brother, Jack Radcliffe of Bosie, Idaho, a son, Bryan D. Radcliffe of Hilliard, and daughters, Kathryn (Francis) Mustaro of New Jersey, and Karen (Eric) Smith of California as well as seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Viewing will be held at the Scioto Ridge United Methodist Church, 4343 Dublin Rd., Hilliard, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, October 23 followed by a Memorial service at 11:30 a.m. and reception at 12:30 p.m. A military burial will be held at Grove Cemetery, east of Kenton on State Route 309, at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 24.
