He was the son of and preceded in death by his parents Nora Elizabeth (Tate) and William Ernest ("Oopie) Scharer, first wife Patricia Ella (Morton) Scharer, son Brian Kelley Scharer, brother James H. (Marty) Scharer; son, Mark (Melissa) Scharer; daughter, Lee Ellen (Edward) Massie; grandchildren, Joseph Brian Scharer, Edward Charles Massie III, Misty (Dave) Maienza; and great-granddaughter, Mia Isabelle Maienza; sister-in-law, Margie Scharer; many friends and extended family. Bob graduated from South Pittsburg High School, South Pittsburg, TN. U.S. Army Veteran. Pastor Bob was a member of and Associate Pastor of Parkside Community Church, Hilliard, Ohio. He was retired from National City Bank, now PNC, after 36 years of service, then worked with Stuart Jaffey & Associates for 15 years, followed by his ministry at Parkside, which included being Director of the Food Bank. Bob loved being with people, never met a stranger, and loved a good laugh. He loved to travel with the highlight of travels being visiting the Holy Land on three occasions. Best cruise was our family trip to the Bahamas, followed by Hawaii, and Alaska. He and Marty loved Southern Gospel Music, especially the Gaithers and the local quartet Soul Purpose. Now there is in store for him the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to him-and not only him, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
