Robert P. Walker

Robert P. Walker, age 79, of Cape Coral, passed away peacefully in his sleep November 16, 2006. He was born March 4, 1927 in Franklin County, OH to his parents Paul and Lucille Walker. He graduated from Hilliard High School in 1945. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army. Robert graduated from The Ohio State University in 1951 with a degree in Education. He received his master’s degree from Miami University of Ohio in 1960. Robert began teaching at West Liberty School District in 1951. He taught at West Alexandria School District from 1952-1961. From 1962-1984 he taught at Southwestern City Schools where he was past principal of Brookpark Middle School and Pleasant View High School in Grove City. He was also the first principal of Westland High School in Galloway and finished his career as principal of Prairie Norton Elementary School for 13 years. Robert retired in 1984 and moved to Florida. He will be remembered as a long time educator and a very successful coach in football, basketball, and track at all of his high schools. He remembered fondly his 1959 Ohio State Championship Track Team at West Alexandria High School. He was in ducted into the West Alexandria Hall of Fame on August 19, 1999. He was a member of the West Franklin Kiwanis Club where he was past president (1973-1974) and Kiwanian of the year in 1978/1979. Survivors include his loving wife Caroline G. Walker, son Kim (Rhonda) Walker, brother Carl L. Walker, grandchildren, Stacy, David and Matthew Walker, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and youngest son David Gregory Walker. A celebration of life service will be held 1 pm Thursday, November 30, 2006 at the TIDD FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich St., Hilliard with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s memory to Hope Hospice, 9470 Health Park Circle, Fort Myers, FL 33908. Robert will be missed by family and many friends past and present.
