Rodney Eric Atwood, age 41, of Hilliard, OH, passed away Friday, October 9, 2020. Beloved son of Rodney and Mindy Atwood, cherished father of Alexis (Lexi) Reign Atwood. Born in Columbus, Rodney was a graduate of Hilliard High School, Class of 1997. Rodney lived a very unpretentious life. He was never known to hold a grudge, laughed whenever possible, enjoyed cooking, especially for others, and was a voracious reader. He loved animals, watching sci-fi, historical documentaries, and politics. (Those who knew him recognized the ornery grin he had when getting ready to “discuss” something). However, the greatest love and joy in his life was his daughter Lexi. Rodney is survived by his parents, Rodney and Mindy Atwood, daughter Alexis Atwood, brothers, Joshua, Jason, and Michael (Emma) Atwood, nieces: Haley and Emery Atwood, nephews: Jaiden, Cohen, and Zander Atwood. Rodney is survived by his grand-father Eric Richmond, God-parent Joan Linthicum, as well as his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is following the heavenly pathway of his grandmothers Nancie Richmond, and Irene Hagens, and his nephew, Jaxon Atwood. As we try to process Rodney’s early passing a poem written by his mother only days before his death came to mind . . . it says it all.
Being
Youth is a raindrop on a dry road,
a flower in a patch of dust,
a lush mound of fertile soil,
waiting for the right time to grow.
Maturity is a fork in the road,
a place where decisions are made,
lifestyles are created, and journeys begun.
The path that demands completion.
Aged is the dust on the parched earth,
the seeds from the dying flower,
the world, once a dream now an echo
of the adolescent hope, we called youth.
Rodney’s being was silenced midstream, but the echo of his life will go on forever. Family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2020 at the TIDD FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 5265 Norwich Street, Hilliard, OH 43026 (614)-876-1722. A private service will be conducted following the visitation. Thank you to our precious family and friends who in remembrance of Rodney are watching over his daughter. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to consider a memorial contribution to help in the care and education of his daughter, Lexi.

John 14:1-3
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.”
